Transforming ideas and thoughts and other internal representations into a form outside the thinker; e.g., by writing and visualizing or otherwise giving them an objectified or material form. Frequently ideas emerge through the very process of externalizing them, so one is not simply dealing with the issue of translating internally represented ideas to an external form.
