A central dynamic force, generated in conflicting, sometimes opposing, elements or subsystems, that constantly elicits the development of activity systems
; old sets of contradictions give way to newer ones. The social application of the term differs from the logical application, in that the latter suggests fundamental errors or flaws of reasoning have occurred, necessitating the elimination of the contradiction.
